Start by Identifying the Shutter Mounting Position

Before taking out a tape measure, establish where the shutter will sit. This determines which dimensions matter and whether the opening has enough surrounding space for the guides, curtain, barrel, and motor.

A shopfront shutter may be fitted inside the opening, behind the opening, or on the external face of the wall. An inside fit can provide a neat appearance where the reveals are square and strong enough to receive the guides.
